Trent Keen served as an Assistant Public Defender in St. Louis County, where he managed a large caseload of felony and misdemeanor cases. Known for his thoughtful, client-centered approach, Trent brings strong advocacy skills and a deep understanding of Missouri criminal law and procedure.
Trent earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 2019, and his Juris Doctor from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2024. During law school, Trent gained valuable hands-on experience. At Wilkins Schneller Law, he supported plaintiff-side personal injury litigation, conducting legal research and trial preparation. He then interned with the Missouri State Public Defender in St. Louis City as a Rule 13 certified student attorney, where he represented clients in bond review hearings, drafted motions, and assisted staff attorneys with legal research.
After graduation, Trent joined the Missouri State Public Defender’s Office in St. Louis County as an Assistant Public Defender. In that role, he represented clients in a wide range of criminal proceedings and worked alongside colleagues — including Giovanni Mosesso — earning praise for his professionalism and dedication.
Trent discusses his path from public defense to private practice, his philosophy of client-centered advocacy, and why he’s excited to bring his courtroom experience to Rose Legal Services.
Originally from the Metro East, Trent has built his career and life in the St. Louis area. Away from the courtroom, he enjoys staying active and connecting with his community.
