Serena Qamhieh joined Rose Legal Services after completing the Missouri Justice Fellowship in Public Defense at the Kirksville Trial Office. During her fellowship, Serena was immersed in trial-level attorney work representing people in underserved, rural areas on a wide range of criminal matters.
Serena holds a J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law and graduated with distinction (Top 5%) from the University of Iowa with a B.A. in Political Science and Philosophy, with a minor in Arabic.
Serena handles the firm’s cases in Jefferson County, Franklin County, Washington County, and Wayne County. Serena chose to practice criminal defense because she enjoys being in the courtroom and appreciates the opportunity to speak up for someone else throughout their case. She loves being able to help people, even on their worst days.

Serena is a big animal lover who has previously fostered animals and volunteered for the Adair County Humane Society while living in Kirksville, MO. She and her partner, Lucian, have two dogs, Daisy and Beau, and two cats, Umbra and Panyo. Serena is also a fan of music and can play the piano, guitar, saxophone, and violin.
